From the streets, to the jails, to the stage: Jose “Mr. Azteka” Lam is making his debut on CASA 0101’s stage in this year’s Chicanas, Cholas, y Chisme production. As a child, Jose used to cut apart cardboard boxes and pretend to be on television. In 2005, Jose signed with Univision Music Group under his performing name “AZTEKA,” where he released his cd ‘Sueño Americano.’ He has appeared on shows such as, Don Francisco Presenta, Sabado Gigante, and Despierta America. Jose works at Homeboy Industries and is part of URA Casting’s ‘From the Streets to the Set.’

Dani Gonzalez is excited to be working with CCC!!! Dani has performed all over the world including the White House (not recently) and the Vatican. Some of her favorite theater roles include a “stepsister” in Cinderella,”Jan” in Grease and most recently ”Ethel” in The Music Man alongside Adam Pascal. She is currently pursuing audiobook narration and hopes to voice titles in English and Spanish to make her Mexican mamí proud. Rubén Dario arrived in California in 2016 and entered the entertainment world after being inspired by his favorite actors, such as Pedro Infante, “Cantinflas,” Antonio Aguilar, Benicio del Toro, Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, and Marlon Brando. Thus he managed to start his career as an actor without any guidance, which now became his new passion. He is currently working as an actor in Los Angeles, California with the illusion of inspiring new Latin generations into the world of Hollywood.

In second grade, Kristo was diagnosed with ADHD. He is extremely energetic and has trouble staying still. Kristo was introduced to musical theater by his 3rd grade teacher and grew a passion for the performing arts. It helps him channel his energy. Through the arts, Kristo has learned about his heritage and Mexican culture. He is part of a Mariachi ensemble and a Folklorico dance company. He loves music. Roberta H Martínez is an actor, historian, and writer who grew up in East Los and keeps coming back to places where the tortillas are fresh and the jamaica is just a little tart. She’s sung in Early Music Consorts, Gospel Choirs, and Chamber Singers; danced hula, jarocho, and tap. She’s a member of The Collective Voz, a playwright’s group. Recent credits include ALICIA, TIENES HAMBRE, WINNING TICKET, THE TRUTH OF BONES, REMEMBERING BOYLE HEIGHTS, THE END, MASAO AND THE BRONZE NIGHTINGALE. She’s thrilled to be performing in Chicana, Cholas, and Chisme. Women, history, theater: yes!

MJ Brown/Miss Barbie-Q—(Pronouns: they/them/theirs) - is a Drag Artist/Host/Storyteller/Panelist/Activist/Actor/Writer. They’ve been in the entertainment for over two decades and identifies as Trans Femme Non Binary. They’ve worked with artists such as Lady Gaga and Taylor Mac. Esmeralda Vasquez

Esmeralda was born in South East LA, but bounced around from city to city throughout her childhood. With few arts resources, she was first introduced to theatre when her 3rd grade teacher let her students perform plays in the classroom. She was hooked! Esmeralda has taken writing, improv, and storytelling classes at Second City, Hollywood. She hasn't been in a play since her senior year of high school in 2012 and is really stoked to have her debut with Chicanas, Cholas y Chisme. Esmeralda currently works at Young Storytellers, where they help raise youth’s voices, one story at a time.

Born and raised in East LA, Jacqueline Castañeda is a music-obsessed actress, singer, and writer. Along with being involved with Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble and Towne Street Theatre, Jacqueline has produced projects with other young theater and film artists in the LA/OC area as well. She is a firm believer that art is essential to promote a sense of growth, community, and activism. Lys Perez grew up in the La Mirada/Norwalk/Whittier, CA area and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. After eight years in the corporate finance world, she decided to leave and dedicate herself full time to her passion for acting. She has since starred in exciting independent films and web series. Izzy Jaquez

Izzy Jaquez is a Chicanx artist and actor from El Sereno, California. They began acting in high school, where their passion for theater really began to emerge. Since graduating in 2017, Izzy has worked every summer with the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles’ Will Power to Youth Program. Although their passions lie in acting, Izzy has also stage managed and assisted in costume and set design in numerous productions. Izzy is currently working on filming their first feature length film. Along with acting, Izzy also creates visual art that focuses on love identity, and familial relationships.

Jose Alejandro Hernandez Jr., a recent alumni of CSU Dominguez Hills (B.A Theatre Arts) began performing at the age of 10 in improvisational theater. Later attending the LA County High School for the Arts training in a conservatory style theater program. He has performed in various notable works including, Noises Off, Julius Caesar, A Streetcar Named Desire, Hairspray, and Metamorphoses. Recently he has ventured into film and television both in front and behind the camera. He would like to thank Casa 0101, Corky Dominguez, Josefina Lopez and above all god for this opportunity.

Rosa Frausto is a proud Mexican American Chicago born actress. She started acting at the age of 19. Frausto has been acting in several short films as well as several independent feature horror films. Her most recent film credits include independent features, SOY NERO, THE POSSESSION DIARIES, and just recently finished working on a supporting lead role in a true story EYES UPON WAKING, an independent feature film based on a true story. This is her first time performing at CASA 0101 and is beyond thrilled and grateful for the opportunity being given to her by these amazing Latina writers and producers. ELVIA SUSANA RUBALCAVA is a writer, director, producer, and content creator. Rubalcava has written, directed, and assistant produced the past six years with Chicanas, Cholas, y Chisme. Her play Fluffy Homegirls toured New Orleans & Northern California, as well as her first commissioned play Our Voz. Her plays Letters to My Dead Lovers (2018), Homegirls from el Otro Lado (2019), and Fluffy Homegirls (2019) were selected for the Teatro Frida Kahlo Theater’s 10-minute Play Festival where she also directed Breaking the Binary (2019). Her poetry has been published in Mujeres de Maiz Flor y Canto Zines, Seeds of Resistance Flor y Canto, and others. Her short story “Palomas” was recently published in Our Stories: A collection of personal narratives a Latina anthology. She co-directed Teatro Moz (2016) and Drunk Girl (2015) at Casa 0101 and is a co-founder of Las Tres a theater collective aimed at developing and promoting writers, directors, and producers.
