ARENA: A House MUSIC-al

Written by Abel Alvarado

ARENA: A House Music-al, written by Abel Alvarado, is based on the house music of the 1990’s at the legendary ARENA Nightclub in Hollywood. The story follows Lucio, the music minister, with a dynamic voice of the the Apostolic Church where his parents are also the pastors. He also has a closeted relationship with the church guitar player and when his parents find out, all hell breaks loose.

Come reexperience the magic that was Arena.

ARENA: A House Music-al includes adult themes and nudity. Recommend for ages 17 and older.

Casa 0101 abides by all government guidelines related to safety, and will ask all guests to also follow most current safety protocols. In order to visit our venue, all guests must wear a mask while inside Casa 0101. Subject to change.

Preston would like to thank the creative team for putting together a beautiful show and for giving him an opportunity to perform again. MATTHEW NOAH is ecstatic to finally be apart of a staged production of ARENA: A House Music-al. Originating the role of Ms. Martin from the conception in workshops, to live readings, to special events, and now this! He’s incredibly excited to be sharing the stage with such a talented cast. The amount of love, support, and PRIDE that comes from every individual on stage is gagging! This may be Matthew’s first show in Drag but definitely not his first musical. Other stage credits include: Beauty and the Beast (Monsieur D’Arque), Sister Act (TJ), Music Man (Quartet), Les Miserables (Leglas), Little Shop of Horrors (Mushnik), RENT (ensemble), The King and I (Priest), Alien vs. Musical (Jean) and many more. Matthew would like to thank Abel and Rigo for entrusting him to fi ll such big heels. Special thanks to Mom, Chris, and Andreas, for their continues love and support. Luis studied theatre arts and has been in several shows in Orange County including: Into The Woods, Assassins, and Spelling Bee. KRYSTAL GEM is an LA-based performing artist. She received her Acting MFA from CalArts and her Vocal Performance BFA from Millsaps College. Well-versed in live performance, Krystal Gem has graced the stage in Florence, ITL, Carnegie Hall, Thalia Mara Hall, and varying venues across the American southeast. She has composed for the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, independent films, and brands that align with her personal conviction of uplifting Magical Black Girls through the conduit of performing arts. She has performed as Rosalind in Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Rita in Ibsen’s Little Eyolf, and Venus is Suzan Lori- Parks’ Venus. Krystal Gem hails from the birthplace of America’s music-Jackson, MS. She loves Lucky Charms, Image Comics, and all things Sailor Moon.

Christopher Baker (Chris) is a local performance artist with a BFA degree in Acting and a Minor in Education. Originally from Tampa Florida, Christopher has developed his résumé working with community, regional and educational theatre. After completing his degree, he bravely moved to Los Angeles for an opportunity to make an impact in the entertainment industry. Currently a resident teaching artist at Dramatic Results and The Advot Project. His latest roles includes Schroeder – YAGMCB – The Phantom Project Theatre CA.

Casey Alcoser is an LA-based actor, writer, and voice artist. He’s also thrilled to return as Erik! A graduate of the professional conservatory at the Art of Acting Studio in LA in 2020, recent stage credits of his include ‘Alls Well That Ends Well,’ ‘Landscape of the Body,’ ‘Gideon and the Blundersnorp,’ ‘Thom Pain,’ and his own one-man show, ‘Coffee, Tea, and Gin.’ He’s also the host of the Steamy Stories Podcast, where he swears he doesn’t use the Erik voice – unless you want him to. Bryant is excited to return Casa 0101 for the debut of Arena: A House Music-al. You may have recognized him from shows such as, Aladdin DLE (Ensemble), Young Frankenstein (Igor), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Judah), and many more. He is honored to work with such a talented cast to bring the story of Arena to life on stage. When Bryant is not performing on stage, he is performing at The Disneyland Resort. Alejandro Lechuga – is filled with gratitude to be returning to be a part of Arena after a successful run of the workshop in 2021. He has been a part of this show and it’s process since 2019 and is proud of Abel Alvarado, along with the Arena team, for their continuous hard work and dedication they put into the production. Alejandro made his debut with TNH productions in Aladdin: Dual language edition at Casa0101 back in 2017. He started performing at the age of 11 at Plaza de la Raza in Lincoln Heights and was part of the Community Arts Partnership program (CAP) community theatre for 5 years performing at both Plaza de la Raza and The REDCAT theatre located in the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Victor Becerra has had an urge to perform and entertain since age of 5. His nomadic soul and love of performing has taken him to a plethora of stages, big and small. From stage, film, stand-up, improv at The Upright Citizen Brigade, competing in international dance battles, commercial acting, being a producer and giving tours of the historic Universal backlot on the World Famous Studio Tour. Victor wants to inspire people the same way his mentors, friends, and family have inspired him and keep that cycle of positivity going. Representing Latinos in the industry is very crucial and important to Victor.

Daniela Hernandez is an transgender actress, singer, and activist based in Los Angeles, CA. Originally from Dallas, Texas, her formal training includes 10+ years experience in show choir and Performing Arts workshops at SMU and Meddows School of the Arts. Daniela has also made her own mark in the world of fashion, having costumed and seamed at the Miss Texas USA pageant for years and worked alongside influential drag stars such as Alyssa Edwards, Asia O’Hara, and Shangela. She has recently signed a voice-over deal with Pixar, and her work will be premiering in an upcoming film. More than a performer, she has dedicated her life’s work to enriching her community. She has worked at the Translatina Coalition, Hollywood’s LGBT Center, It Takes A Village, and St John’s Well Child and Family Center where she was involved in providing trans-affirming surgeries and prior authorizations for medication. Also involved with Transgendertalent management and Keychange, Daniela never ceases to amaze and continues her work to empower transgender woman of color to thrive.—

She hopes to do even more for her community and her career, and she can’t wait for everyone to see the beauty that is Arena. Thank you all for your support!”

Jenna Small is an actor, dancer, and singer based in Los Angeles. As a company member of The MOB Dance Company for 4 years , Jenna has performed in many dance showcases throughout the West Coast including World of Dance, Choreographer’s Carnival, Welcome to the 805, and more. She recently performed in two dance films (Invite Only 2020 and Invite Only 2021) produced by The MOB Dance Company. She has a passion for freestyle dance and has trained with Society Training Program and Millennium Dance Complex Pittsburgh in a variety of styles. Jenna attended Duquesne University where she performed with and choreographed for Exhalations Dance Theatre and performed with the Duquesne University Choir. She has trained with Margie Haber Acting Studio in Los Angeles and is motivated to continue sharing her passions and connecting with others through her various art forms.

Giancarlo Garritano, An actor, singer, and songwriter, originally from Austin, Texas, has been doing theatre since his sophomore year of high school. He moved to LA when he was 18 and is now a graduate of Hussian College LA with a BFA in Contemporary Musical Theatre & Film. He aims to marry both into a career of original musical films/tv shows. He is ever thankful to his family, mentors, and everyone he’s worked with that have given him amazing opportunities such as this. A character like Johnny is never easy but he is honored to be trusted with such a role. Michael is excited to be returning to Casa 0101 for this timeless production of Arena. Other recent stage credits include the role of Cogsworth in the Cupcake Theatre’s production of Beauty and the Beast, multiple roles in an immersive, ensemble production of Remembering Boyle Heights at Casa 0101, Victor Von Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein with the Kentwood Players in Westchester, Harry McAffee in the Montclair Prep Academy of Bye Bye Birdie, and understudy to the role of Mayor Gayheart in Paradise; A Divine Bluegrass Musical at the Ruskin Group Theatre. Michael has appeared in numerous commercials, indy films, and as the occasional corpse on television. A graduate of The Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles, Meisner Technique at the Ruskin School in Santa Monica, study with The Actors’ Gang in Culver City, Ivana Chubbuck in Los Angeles, and Killian’s Commercial Workshop in Los Angeles, Michael owns classic cars, and owns and operates Berck’s Detail-A-Go-Go, his own mobile auto detailing business. Alexander Huntley journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean to debut his existence in the United States. Beginning his performing career in South Africa with cringey school productions, he went on to graduate with a professional certificate in Music Theatre and Dance, and a BFA in Performing Arts in Los Angeles. Alexander sold his soul to the mouse and was featured in fan favorite shows like Fantasmic!, Paint the Night, and Magic Happens at the “happiest place on earth.” Emerging from his flop era, he is excited to perform with Casa 0101 in this very LGBT show and is grateful to share this lovely piece with everyone.

Born and raised in L.A., Amy is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is so excited to be a part of Arena: A House Music-al! Amy was most recently seen performing in Santa Monica Playhouse’s FaithnLove, MSD Productions’ Virtual Spring Awakening and BroadwayMania’s virtual In The Heights. Before everything went virtual, she appeared in the immersive thriller The Séance and in the new musical workshop Accidental Joy, in addition to performing with the Pacific Pals at the Aquarium of the Pacific. While pursuing her B.A. in Theatre, she attended the British American Drama Academy and appeared in various collegiate productions. @amymelendrez

David Reza an award-winning actor and son of immigrants. David starred in the award-winning Indy feature “El Camino,” directed by Sean Daniel Bauer. David also starred in the award-winning short film, “Anything for my Mother.” David appears in the award-winning digital series #HighlandPark: Namaste episode produced by Lone Stars Entertainment. David’s theatre credits include…Casa0101 Theatre: Bad for the Community, Eastside Queer Stories, Unmasking Hercules, and Sideways Fences, and Always Running. The Robey Theatre Company: Lessons Learned. Frida Kahlo Theatre: 10-minute play Festival. LATC: Encuentro de las Américas Patas Arriba. The Macha theater group: Frida Stroke of a Passion. David is currently in film school at LACCD for directing and currently taking scene study at the Robey advanced scene study with Ben Guillory.

His first theatrical performance started in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s South Pacific in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl as Jerome. Collaborating with musicians such as the LA Philharmonic in Beethoven in the House, Grammy-winning artists Quetzal. Performed as Spanish Soloist in Disneyland’s 55th anniversary. Other credits include Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson directed by Tony-nominated director Alex Timbers with Center Theatre Group Los Angeles. Carmen (opera) and Kurt Weill’s Street Scene at The Luckman.

Luis is thrilled to be making his Casa 0101 and TNH debut. Coming from the Orange County theatre scene, Luis has been in several shows including: Hair (Margaret Mead), Spelling Bee (Barfee), Into the Woods (Baker), Sweeny Todd (Beadle), and Elf (Macy’s Manager). He is thrilled to have been able to have been part of this project from the first reading and is overjoyed to be able to continue assisting in the telling of this important story. Luis would like to thank all of the ARENA creative team for their continued support and encouragement with special thanks to Rigo for giving him the chance to tell this story. Maryland native Samantha M. Lawrence is an actress and vocalist that is now based in Los Angeles. Since relocating to Southern California in 2016, she has had the privilege to perform all over the greater Los Angeles area in musical theatre, cabarets, and opera. She obtained B.A. in Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, focusing on operatic training and integrating music theater and jazz. Some of her LA credits include Beauty and the Beast (Belle, Casa 0101), Sister Act (Sister Mary Robert, Casa 0101), Cabaret at the Merc, Motown Vol. 4, Cabaret at the Merc: 20 Years at the Tonys, and Songs for a New World (Woman 1, Chromolume Theatre). In addition to her musical pursuits, she has also appeared in commercials (Hairclub, Beautiful AI, Eyefit), website print ads (Black + Decker), and was featured in a music video (Hard, Kossisko). Samantha is excited and honored to be a part of this brand new musical and thanks TNH for the opportunity.

Laura’s soulful musical roots began in a Haitian Baptist church at the age of 5. Starring in Off-Broadway Shows such as Sister Chantelle in BARE, Miss Sophia in The Color Purple, and stars as the lead “CECE” in a new musical called This Is Treatment directed by Elizabeth Addison. She sang for the Boston Symphony Hall and was a lead vocalist on the Original USA Gospel Singers European Tour and Sound of America National Tour. Since moving to Los Angeles, she was the Musical Director for For Colored Girls, played in Sister Act, Hairspray and more! She has new music out as an R&B artist that goes by the name Ellore L.A. uses her life story to inspire people and spread self-love. Ellore is a Haitian blood, L.A. based artist who has released her newest single entitled “Dear Black Girl”. You can find her latest single “No Good” on ITunes and more singles on her SoundCloud. Her music is Produced by her brother David Altenor the CEO of Kingdomsound Music Group.

Originally from New Jersey, Jeremy has performed on stages across the country, both theatrically and as a vocalist with various bands. Here in Los Angeles, he received notice as “Judas” in DOMA Theatre Company’s, Jesus Christ Superstar, and originated the role of “Basil Hallward” in DOMA’s world premiere, original musical, Dorian’s Descent. Some of Jeremy’s favorite roles include “Cogsworth” in CASA 0101’s Beauty and the Beast, “Benny” in RENT, “Billy Crocker” in Anything Goes, “The Hawker” in Tommy, and “Mary Sunshine” in Chicago. Jeremy also performed for Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice as a featured soloist in the world premiere of Jesus Christ Superstar GOSPEL at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta under the musical direction of Louis St. Louis and Darryl Jovan Williams.

Omar Mata is a proud second-generation Mexican American Mariachero born and raised in the heart of East Los. From a young age, he was blessed enough to develop a sense of pride and dedication towards the celebration of the Mexican culture through its unforgettable music for 25 years and present. Having dedicated his life to performing arts has instilled a passion to always reach his audience in a raw authentic manner. His most recent passion has led him to the Casa 0101 stage back in 2008 where he debuted as “Nacho” in the play written by Josefina Lopez and Directed by Eddie Padilla. Since then, he has been fortunate to have been cast as the villain in the childhood Disney classic Aladdin the Musical DLE along with the “Beast” from Beauty and the Beast as well as “Monsignor O’Hara” from Sister Act the Musical, not to mention a Zarzuela (Spanish Opera)“Luisa Fernanda” in the middle of his career.

Diana Shield is motivated and driven to make the changes necessary to evolve and grow as an
artist. She recently starred and wrote a piece for Warrior Bards, Veterans Exploring Ancient
Drama with USC. Also performed and wrote her own material for Everyday Heroes at Geffen
Playhouse. She has accomplished many diverse and truth inspiring roles. From a drug dealer in
the short film Tripp to a strong religious wife in the feature film The Miller Prediction. Diana
wants to inspire others by demanding and accepting roles that are original such as; Ring of
Red , A Barrio Story (Bootleg Theater), Red Sand (Santa Monica Playhouse), Anarchy Chiapas
(Highways Performance Space), and Eastside Heartbeats (CASA 0101). Her portrayal as Sonia
in Eastside Heartbeats awarded her with high reviews from The Topanga Messenger saying
Diana “shines with her acting skills” and has “a voice that won’t quit”. Her goal is to change the
narrative and tell stories from her perspective or diversity. She does not want to conform to the

Chrissi is overjoyed and so grateful to be a part of this production here at Casa 0101. Chrissi has been working with TNH Productions and Casa 0101 since 2012 in their very first musical production “In the Heights” (Carla). You may have also seen her here in “Beauty and the Beast” and “Sister Act”. Chrissi would like to thank Abel Alvarado for creating this beautiful show and including her in it. She would also like to thank the rest of TNH and everyone at Casa 0101 for letting this theater be her casa! Special thanks to Rigo Tejeda for always believing in her artistic abilities, Caroline Benzon for bringing the music to life and her unwavering patience, Tania Possick for her brilliant choreography and positive energy, and of course her amazing castmates for their endless inspiration! Giovanni discovered his passion for acting at an early age and Is immensely grateful to God for allowing him to be a storyteller. He’s also active in Ballroom Dancing and has choreographed in many events and shows. Alejandro Lechuga

Alejandro Lechuga – is very grateful to be a part of Arena and return for his 5th TNH production. Alejandro was recently seen splashing about as Flounder in Mysterium’s production of The Little Mermaid. He started performing at the age of 11 at Plaza de la Raza in Lincoln Heights and was part of the Community Arts Partnership program (CAP) community theatre for 5 years performing at both Plaza de la Raza and The REDCAT theatre located in the Walt Disney Concert Hall. He made his debut with TNH productions in Aladdin: Dual language edition at Casa0101 as well as the remount production at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in Downtown. Alejandro would like to thank Abel & the TNH production team for letting him be a part of this production. He would also like to thank his family and friends for all the love & support x.

David Ty Reza an award winning American actor…. David starred in the award winning Indy feature El Camino movie adaptation of the Novel “Separated by Dreams” written by Elizabeth Ann Guevara. El Camino was adapted for the screen and directed by Sean Daniel Bauer. David also starred in the award winning short film The Immigrants and Anything for my Mother. David appears in the award-winning digital series #HighlandPark: Nahmastay episode produced by Lone Stars Entertainment. David’s theatre credits include…Casa0101 Theatre: Bad for the Community, Eastside Queer Stories, Unmasking Hercules, and Sideways Fences, and Always Running. Jeffrey Delfin (Ensemble) – Jeffrey is an actor and creative originally from New York, and is excited to make his debut at Casa 0101. He hopes to bring more Asian and queer representation to stages and screens in the future and is proud to be involved in Arena: A House MUSIC-al as a starting point. Previous theater credits include Baruch College’s Significant Other, Aaron Davis Hall’s Macbeth and She Kills Monsters, and Macaulay Honors College’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Alexander Huntley is excited to be performing on another stage in Los Angeles after moving from Johannesburg, South Africa. After studying film and stage acting, dance, and music, he has earned a Professional Certificate, and a BFA in Performing Arts at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. He has had the wonderful opportunity to charm audiences on the stages and streets of the Disneyland Resort in shows like Fantasmic!, and Magic Happens. Aside from performing, he loves to dive into the creative world of songwriting, story writing, and painting. In his spare time he enjoys long walks on the beach where he can work on his tan, and attempting to be a plant parent. He would like to thank his family, friends, and one night stands for all the love and support that keeps him going.

Alexis is so excited to be making her Los Angeles theatrical debut in Arena: A House Musical at
CASA 0101. Favorite credits include: Good Kids (Chapman University), Fiddler on the Roof
(Chava) The Little Mermaid (Ariel) and Les Misérables (Fantine). Alexis can most recently be
seen opposite viral Youtube sensation Anwar Jibawi in comedic short, My Girlfriend Can’t Cook.
She also recently wrapped the pilot HeadSpace from Flower Ave. Films. Favorite shorts include

Fernando Nunez

Fernando Núñez is delighted to be back at CASA 0101 theater and proud to be working with
Teatro Nuevos Horizontes productions. Fernando has recently been performing with Mexico
Moderno Dance company directed by Jesus Mejia. He has previously appeared in TNH
productions of The Beauty and The Beast, In The Heights, La Bella y la Bestia. One of his most
memorable performances is the 2010 tournament of rose parade as he was one the performers
for the Mexican Bicentennial float. Fernando wishes to thank his family for loving and supporting
him allowing him to chase his dreams. He is honored to be part of this amazing production.

Katrina Waight is excited to be part of the Ensemble in Arena: A House Musical. She recently worked as Narrator #3 in Once Upon a Teen and also is a dancer for Heat Dance Company. Katrina grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and went to Pebblebrook Performing Arts High School to study drama, voice, and dance. She moved to Los Angeles 4 ½ years ago to pursue her career in the arts and has been studying at Speiser/Sturges Acting Studio. She would like to thank her family for always being there for her and supporting her craft.

Kayleigh Long is a competitive actor, singer, and dancer born and raised in Virgilina, VA. She is a recent graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy with her BFA in Musical Theatre. Some of her credits include Lucy Van Plet in “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” and Dolly Levi in “The Matchmaker.” When Kayleigh is not on stage she is working out, reading a good book, or writing rap songs. During his 40+ years acting and entertaining, Steve Crawford has won numerous awards and traveled from coast to coast as an actor, magician, hypnotist and escape artist. Steve has been cast in more than twenty films including Innocent Revenge, The Magician, Twister, I Can Only Imagine, Lord Finn and If Looks Could Kill, He has appeared on numerous television shows including VEEP, Black Monday, Superstore, The History Channel Houdini Biography and he co-hosted of weekly Fox Television’s Magical Mystery Tour as well as dozens of commercials including a national commercial for Nabisco and was recently seen as the mad scientist in the popular Express Credit Auto commercials.
He studied acting at various acting schools and universities earning a BA in acting. Theater credits include Charles Condomine/ Blithe Spirit and Linus in Charlie Brown. He has a successful career in live entertainment including performing regularly for Six Flags/Texas, Magic Mountain California, Sea World, dozens of festivals, more than 30 state and county fairs, shared the stage with Henry Winkler, worked for Evel Knieval, opened for rock concerts including Alice Cooper and more than one thousand corporations as well as other engagements.

RIGO TEJEDA (Director) is the founder and artistic Director of Teatro Nuevos Horizontes/Theatre New Horizons Company. He is the recipient of the 2019 NAACP award for BEST DIRECTOR for the production of Beauty and The Beast. Rigo Tejeda has become a well-recognized and respected artist in his own right. His Director credit Highlights include “In The Heights” West Coast Regional Premiere, “Aladdin-Dual Language Edition”, “Beauty and The Beast”, “Sister Act” and “Frozen Jr.” This along with his strong passion for exceptional theatre have set Rigo Tejeda on the forefront of the Latino theatre movement in L.A. and is set to maintain a level of excellence in theatre par to none.
